Recognizing the importance of research in the\nfight against coronaviruses and in finding solutions to pandemic-related\nproblems in different areas of life, the EC of NRF ( Fond Nauchni Izsledvania ) \ndiscussed the possibility of preparing a thematic\ncompetition concerning the coronavirus pandemic, as\nwell as potential similar future challenges. The NRF has also been invited to participate in international and \/ or bilateral competitions\non such topics by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and\nproposals from other national funding organizations are pending. These\ncompetitions will be announced when additional funding is provided to the Fund\nfor 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Proposals should focus on the following\ntopics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 study of medical and biological problems\nrelated to the virus, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of COVID-19 patients, including the development of candidate therapists and\nvaccines;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 epidemiological studies (including using\ninformation technology) to predict, monitor and prevent COVID-19 and other\nhigh-risk viral diseases and to build effective mechanisms for their prevention\nor restriction with minimal impact on society and the economy;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 study of social, psychological, legal,\ncultural, educational. ethical and other aspects of restrictions imposed in\ndifferent countries to limit the spread of the virus, as well as measures to\nrebuild the economy and overcome the social and financial consequences of the\npandemic and the restrictions imposed on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, the NSF invites Bulgarian scientific teams and organizations to declare interest \u00a0in participating in these potential competitions by 27 April 2020, presenting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Basic organization and partners (if\napplicable)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Potential leader and key members of the\nresearch team<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. For bilateral competition (if applicable) –\na potential partner from China or another country<\/p>\n\n\n\n
