Twin brothers are winners of the “Golden Galen” from Class 2025 of the Faculty of Pharmacy
148 master pharmacists from Class 2025 of the Faculty of Pharmacy at MU-Sofia received their diplomas at a formal promotion in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture.
119 of the graduates are Bulgarians, 29 are foreign students, and 13 are the excellent students with a grades average above 5.50. Two are the winners of the “Golden Galen” award graduating with full honors in the course of study – the twins Dimitar and Konstantin Kanevi.
Official guests of the celebration were the MU-Sofia leadership, the Deputy Minister of Health Vladimir Afenliev, the Director of the Executive Agency for Medicines, mag.-pharm. Bogdan Kirilov, the Chairman of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, M.A. Pharm. Dimitar Marinov, deans of faculties and directors of university units. Representatives of the companies that supported the ceremony – Alliance Services, Sting AD, SOpharmacy – as well as journalist Boyko Vassilev were also present. The ceremony was led by Prof. Maria Dimitrova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

In his greeting to Class 2025, the Rector, Prof. Boycho Landzhov, MD, addressed the young master pharmacists with the words: “I wish you professional realization in times of peace. Meet the challenges with courage and dignity. May your work bring you satisfaction, and each successful step – a well-deserved recognition”.
The Rector also thanked the lecturers for their contribution to the development of the new generations of master pharmacists and emphasized that: “Your work continues in the success of these young specialists”.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Corr. Member Prof. Georgi Momekov, DSc, emphasized that the role of the pharmacist is transforming nowadays and warned the graduates that the most important challenge they face will be to continue learning constantly. Prof. Momekov acknowledged the significant contribution of the teachers and families to the success of the graduates, and underlined that “no matter how complex the technologies are, the most important tool in pharmacy will always be the thoughtful and responsible person”.
A greeting address by the Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Mihail Okoliyski was introduced by Deputy Minister Afenliev.
Two excellent students of the class – Angela Traykov and Parsa Karimidardashti (Iran) welcomed their newly graduated Bulgarian and foreign colleagues.
The Oath of the graduating pharmacist was pronounced in Bulgarian by one of the winners of the “Golden Galen” – Dimitar Kanev, and in English – by the excellent student Eleftheria-Artemis Avgoloupi (Greece).
The Rector and the Dean presented the diplomas to the 13 excellent students, with the winners of the “Golden Galen” also receiving a premium from the legacy of the donor Dr. Andrey Georgiev. The remaining graduates with average grade above 5.50 traditionally received an honorary diploma and a premium from the Student Council.
At the ceremony, the diplomas of 6 graduates from the international program “Health Technology Assessment with Pharmacoeconomics”, which is their second master’s degree, were also presented.
