MEMBERSHIP IN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

ECTS MA (Medicine Association)

MU-Sofia has been a full member of the ECTS MA European organization since 2009. The medical faculties of leading universities from the European Union, including Switzerland and Norway, are members of this association. The aim of this association is to optimize the exchange of medical students in the EU using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The current chairman in the person of Prof. Juan Argüeles (Oviedo, Spain) is dedicated to opening the association to new members and moving towards digitalization and a more active collaborative role.

European University Association (EUA)

MU-Sofia is an observer member of the European University Association (EUA), an organization that unites 850 universities from 49 European countries. EUA plays a crucial role in the Bologna process and in influencing EU policies on higher education, research and innovation. Through continuous interaction with a number of other European and international organizations, EUA ensures that the independent voice of European universities is heard.

Agence universitaire de la Francophonie

Medical University – Sofia has been a member of the University Agency of Francophonie (AUF) since 1994 until now. It is an international association that develops activities exclusively in the field of higher education and scientific research, has 1007 members (universities, higher schools, institutes, scientific research centers), scattered on all continents, in 119 countries, 55 of which are member countries of The International Organization of Francophonie (OIF). As such, it represents a unique network of partnerships, aimed at the construction and consolidation of a Francophone scientific space, by supporting the institutional projects of member universities, scientific cooperation, research and publications. A large number of professors and researchers from MU-Sofia contribute to scientific events, have given lectures at AUF member universities or at Francophone conferences. Until now, our students have most often carried out francophone mobility with a doctoral scholarship and for a professional internship.
