A representative team of MU-Sofia participated for the first time and won the traditional diplomatic football tournament “Ambassadors’ League 2025”.
Ten teams competed for the cup, including the teams of the Еmbassies of the USA, Germany, Turkey and Denmark, as well as the teams of the UNWE and the University Hospital “Lozenets”.
The Rector, Prof. Dr. Boycho Landzhov, DM, personally supported the team at the charity sports event. The team captain was Dr. Ivan Angushev, organizer of the MU-Sofia charity football tournament “Hippocrates Cup”.
“Ambassadors’ League 2025” was held on June 15, 2025 at the National Football Base “Boyana”, and was organized by the UN Association in Bulgaria – with the support of the Bulgarian Football Union and other organizations.
The sporting event brings together representatives of diplomatic missions, various institutions, as well as representatives of civil society, with the aim of promoting tolerance and solidarity by raising funds for various global causes. This year, the tournament was part of the “Football Unites” initiative, which aims to support disadvantaged children through the power of sport. The funds raised will be used to organize sports activities that promote inclusion and personal development of children.
The university team was composed of Bulgarian and international students. Colleagues from the MUS Humanitarian Society made sweets they sold on site, which further supported the charitable initiative.
