MU-Sofia, as a partner in the INGENIUM European University Alliance and in fulfillment of Task 2.4 “Foreign language courses for academic and administrative staff”, WP2 “Building a cohesive cooperation framework”, successfully trained and certified the first university language course (acquisition of English language skills for staff) with representatives of the administration and academic community of the university.
The three-month intensive self-paced (total of 60-hour) English language course with MUS-developed resources (teaching materials and training hours), carried out in the period December 2025 – February 2026, was just the beginning of a series of activities of MU-Sofia for language integration and removal of language barriers for employees of departments and main units. Graduates received certificates.
Foreign language courses (English at the beginning of the implementation of the joint language policy for the Alliance, subsequently other partner languages) for academic and administrative staff are a commitment of the universities in the context of multilingualism and the need to improve the qualification of human resources. The funding is implemented from the budget of Project: 101090042 — INGENIUM — ERASMUS-EDU-2022-EUR-UNIV for the improvement of language skills. Improved language skills will facilitate the mobility of teaching and management staff and stimulate innovation in teaching methodologies, opening up opportunities for joint programs and virtual mobility.
Each partner university should provide virtual materials and physical activities in English for administrative and academic staff in key positions in order to strengthen inter-university cooperation. The increase in the professional and pedagogical competence of the trained pedagogical specialists is expected to increase the international exchange of the ten university partners.
