The traditional winter camp for students of the Medical University of Sofia, organized by the Department of Language Education and Sports (DELS) in Bansko, concluded on Friday, February 13, 2026, with the competition “Rector’s Cup.”
Before the start, the bronze medalist from the Milan–Cortina Olympics, skier Tervel Zamfirov, and Olympic snowboard competitors Malena Zamfirova and Aleksandar Krashnyak greeted our students. The Olympians demonstrated their skills with spectacular descents on the Shiligarnika slope.

The patron of the “Rector’s Cup,” Prof. Dr. Boycho Landzhov, MD, opened the sports competition and also made a ceremonial descent on the course with starting number 1.
Official guests of the sports celebration included the Chief Secretary of the Medical University of Sofia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vidin Kirkov; Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Anzhelika Velkova; Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ventsislava Pencheva; Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Elitsa Deliverska; Vice-Rector Prof. Krasimira Yoncheva; the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Bulanov; the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Prof. Dr. Boyko Bonev; the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Corresponding Member Prof. Georgi Momékov; and the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, DSc,” Prof. Aleksandrina Vodenicharova.
A total of 50 students from various faculties and units of the Medical University of Sofia took part in the winter camp. The “Rector’s Cup” 2026 ski competition included 22 women and 19 men.

- Martin Zamfirov – Faculty of Medicine;

- Radoslav Balinski – Faculty of Dental Medicine.
The Student Council of the Medical University of Sofia provided significant support to the Department of Language Education and Sports in organizing the winter celebration.
