Medical University-Sofia hosted a strategic and reporting meeting for the international project Boosting Ingenium for Excellence (BI4E), which took place on September 10 and 11, 2024.
The event brought together over 30 representatives of the 8 partner universities that work on the initiative, financed under the European program Horizon Europe – the universities in Karlsruhe (Germany), in Chieti-Pescara (Italy), in Rouen (France), in Skövde (Sweden) , in Iași (Romania), Munster University of Technology (Ireland), and MU-Sofia.
The hybrid event was personally opened by the Rector of MU-Sofia, Prof. Boycho Landzhov, MD, who was hosting for the first time an event under BI4E international project. The Vice-Rector for Science and Accreditation, Prof. Valentina Petkova, also welcomed the participants.
The main presentation at the Steering Committee meeting was given by Prof. Irina Lungu, Project Coordinator and a representative of the University of Iași, Romania. She outlined the progress of the initiative, as well as the challenges the partners are facing, including the feedback from the EC with requirements for the future activities. After that, the leaders of the 7 working packages presented the developments in their area of responsibility.
In parallel, a hybrid meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council was held, composed of experts external to the project and high-level managers from the partner universities. On behalf of MU-Sofia, the representative is Prof. Ilko Getov from the Faculty of Pharmacy. The members elected a new President of the Committee – this is Prof. Afrooz Behboudi, Head of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Sjövde, Sweden.
On the second day of the event, one of the associate partners of MU-Sofia in the project – Medical University-Pleven was presented. Representatives of the management of the higher school on site were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diana Pendicheva-Duhlenska, Deputy Rector of the University, MD, Mr. Hristo Dochev, Chief Secretary and Assoc. Dr. Mariela Kamburova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Public Health at MU-Pleven.
