Acad. prof. Latchezar Traykov in his capacity as Chairman of the Council of Rectors and representing MU – Sofia as the Bulgarian higher institution in the INGENIUM European University, participated in a unique international meeting. It was initiated by the embassies of France and the Kingdom of Spain in Bulgaria, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation.
The opening of the Spanish-Bulgarian-French meeting “Embassies in support of European universities” was held in the French residence, with the kind hosting of H.E. Joel Meyer, Ambassador of France. The event was also attended by the ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain H.E. Alejandro Polanco Mata. “It is a priority for us in this university alliance, through successful partnerships, to maintain a high level of teaching and research cooperation, in the various areas of specialization. I am convinced of the success of European University INGENIUM and I believe that our efforts will be fruitful and in harmony with European values”, said the Rector of the Medical university – Sofia, Acad. prof. Latchezar Traykov in his greeting to the guests.
On the second day, the meeting continued in the conference hall of the Representative Office of the European Commission in Sofia, in the presence of the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Galin Tsokov. Guests from seven joint European alliances, from the three countries, exchanged experience gained from their participation in the European Universities initiative and shared constructive recommendations for removing legislative-administrative obstacles to common initiatives. The purpose of the event was to promote European university alliances and, in particular, the participation of Bulgarian universities in them.
INGENIUM Coordinator and Professor from the University of Oviedo, Spain, Agustín Nieto Alonso, took part in the First Session of the second working day, delivered an impressive presentation about the European University INGENIUM. The Spanish delegation was composed of four representatives, among them: the vice-rector for internationalization Jesús Daniel Santos, the director of the Alliance Prof. Ana Isabel Álvarez González, as well as the communication expert Alberto Esparza Hueto. The French partner in the person of the University of Rouen, Normandy, France, was represented by Eric Dargent, Vice President for International Affairs and by Professor Antoine Ouvrard-Pascault.
