Prof. Asena Stoimenova is the new President of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union (BFU). She was elected after a run-off with her opponent, Adelina Lyubenova, during the Union’s Sixth Regular Reporting and Election Congress on Saturday, which received the support of 188 of the delegates, with a total of 354 votes.
Prof. Asena Stoimenova is a long-time lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Sofia, and currently teaches at the Faculty of Public Health.
The term of office of the current chairman, Prof. Ilko Getov, is until 2023.
Developing programs between the health fund and municipalities to support pharmacies in small municipalities so as to maintain 24-hour service is among the ideas of the new BFU chairman.
