The 477 young doctors from the Alumni 2020 of the Faculty of Medicine at MU-Sofia are the first medics to take the Hippocratic Oath online due to the pandemic. The record 9 graduates are full excellent students.
This is the first graduating class from MU-Sofia to take the Hippocratic Oath online, not in the traditional way.
In a special web space will be recreated the atmosphere of the ceremonial graduation of all graduates together. A live broadcast of the hybrid event has been provided so that the relatives of the young doctors can watch it and be empathetic, as the tradition in the oldest medical university in our country dictates.
“The management wants to continue the tradition of solemnity on this important day for young doctors, so that, despite the unusual conditions, they have the opportunity to feel festive and remember this moment. Our university insists on innovation and therefore we decided to take advantage of modern technologies through which the Alumni 2020 will receive a best farewell. With the Dean, Prof. Dimitar Bulanov, we found the most reasonable option”, said Acad. prof. Lachezar Traykov, Rector of Medical University-Sofia.
The award ceremony will begin on February 22 with the “Golden Hippocrates” awards to the full excellent graduates, which this year are a record high number – 9 graduates. Then those who prefer to do it online will swear in the first hybrid ceremony of its kind, led by the Rector and the Dean live. Then, for several days, the young doctors will take face-to-face their Hippocratic Oath diplomas and on schedule in the Anatomical Hall of the Faculty of Medicine.
According to Prof. Bulanov, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the most important for the university’s management is the life and health of young graduates, as well as the safety of their loved ones. He stressed that doctors must be the first to set an example of compliance with the rules established in the country. “The medical profession requires a lot of sacrifice. The fact that the traditional award ceremony with several thousand people in the National Palace of Culture will not take place, as it has for years, is the first professional sacrifice of the young doctors from Alumni 2020 at the beginning of their professional journey. Thus, they set an example for the whole society “, stressed Prof. Dimitar Bulanov.
This year’s graduates are a total of 262 Bulgarians and 215 foreigners from 29 countries, including Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Republic of Cyprus, Turkey and France.
The relatives of the graduates will be able to watch them on February 22 through a special online channel – GRADUATE 2020 OF THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE TO MU-SOFIA
