The ninth annual ranking of the best global universities in the U.S. News & World Report compares universities worldwide. As more and more students plan to enroll in universities outside their own country, the Best Global Universities ranking, which focuses specifically on academic research and the reputation of schools as a whole, rather than their individual undergraduate or graduate programs, helps these applicants accurately compare institutions around the world. The overall ranking of the best global universities covers 2,000 top institutions, up from 1,750 the last edition, spread across 95 countries, up from 90 the last edition. The first step in producing these rankings, which are powered by Clarivate™, involved creating a pool of 2,011 universities that were used to rank the top 2,000 schools.
