Representatives of 12 leading Universities and Institutes from 11 countries are meeting in Sofia to discuss ways to improve their research activities. The international meeting is part of the “Alliance for Life Sciences: From Strategies to Actions in Central and Eastern Europe” project, under the “Horizon Europe” Program, and Medical University – Sofia has been chosen as its host. The official opening will be held on September 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the “Maxima” Hall of the University Hospital “Prof. Dr. Alexander Chirkov”, at “Pencho Slaveykov” Blvd. No. 52A.
The aim of the project is to raise the level of professional administration and implementation of scientific research projects. Lectures on improving career policy by training and building networks of the next generation of leaders, modernizing institutional career systems and increasing the competences of technology transfer specialists are planned. Also included is the creation of a platform for links with industry to make these institutions from Central and Eastern Europe attractive partners for cooperation with developed countries in Europe and the world. At the round table organized during the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science were invited, with whom the partners in the consortium will discuss the possibilities for joint work, with the aim of increasing the quality of research and project activity.
Alliance4Life unites 12 research universities and institutes from 11 countries in Central and Eastern Europe: the Czech Masaryk University – CEITEC and St. Anne’s University Hospital, the Slovak Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Polish University Medical University of Lodz, the Croatian University School of Medicine – University of Zagreb, the Estonian University of Tartu, the Lithuanian Vilnius University, the representative of Latvia – Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis , of Slovenia – University of Ljubljana, Hungarian Semmelweis University, Romanian Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Medical University – Sofia.
In the period 12-16.09.2022, Medical University – Sofia will host three events: Meeting of the Board of Directors of Universities and Institutes (Alliance4Life Board Meeting); Research Management and Administration Academy (RMA), representing a working format for scientists in the field of medicine and professionals in the management of international projects; National Institutional Meeting (National Trigger Event), which gathers representatives of academia, institutions, media and the corporate sector in a discussion round table.
