Research institute of innovative medical science

The institute was established on basis on Decree 161 / 07.05.2024 of Ministry council .

With a decision on the general assembly of MU- Sofia from 03.07.2024, the institute becomes basic unit in the structure of MU- Sofia ( Art . 25a of PUDMUS), and after this,
with a decision on the academic council from 30.07.2024, for Director on the institute has been selected Academician Prof. Dr. Vanyo​ Mitev , MD, PhD, DSCi.

Regulations for the work of Research institute
The research program on the institute includes developments in the following directions, but not only them:
  • Pathogenesis, complications, post-COVID-19 symptoms, prevention and treatment. Role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in complications of COVID-19 and others infectious diseases;
  • Application of natural products in medicine;
  • Tissue regeneration;
  • Non-contagious, chronic, socially significant diseases;
  • Medical and bio-medical Informatics. Information and communication technologies (ICT) in medicine and healthcare;
  • Intestinal and oral microbiome and human health;
  • Pharmacoeconomics and quality on life related to pharmacotherapy;​
  • New methods for diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the mouth cavity;
  • Artificial intelligence in healthcare.
