Prof. Dr. Gencho Nachev and his team, again for the first time in Bulgaria carried out a high-risk operation of a rare and severe complication-a very large aneurysm of the trunk of the left coronary artery. It has been reported that less than 50 cases have been described in the world literature, in which in the conditions of cardiac arrest and extracorporeal circulation there was isolation of the aneurysm by stitching and placing three bypass with the use of Internal thoracic arteries. This success is combined with a large amount of scientific and academic involvement of the teachers from the University Hospital “St. Ekaterina”, part of the Medical University – Sofia. The future cooperation between the two institutions is related to the forthcoming construction of a simulation center in order to improve the preparation of staff in this highly specialized field.
