Online sessions for orthopedists are initiated by the Medical University – Sofia

An initiative to promote the qualification and training of Bulgarian medics during the COVID-19 pandemic was initiated by the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Medical University (MU) – Sofia. In a pandemic and quarantine environment, the only way to exchange experience between professionals is through virtual communication. The department has planned a series of online sessions with the theme “Knee Prosthesis”. The lecturers will be leading Bulgarian orthopedists, and the aim is to discuss theoretical topics whose focus is a primary knee replacement, partial knee replacement, revision knee prosthesis. There will be an opportunity to discuss clinical cases as well as watch video demonstrations of surgeries and liaise between surgeons with varying levels of experience in knee prosthetics.

The first online session is scheduled for May 5, and the topic is’ How to make a successful endoprosthesis of a damaged knee? “. The leading Bulgarian orthopedists Prof. Plamen Kinov, Assoc. Prof. Andrey Andreev and Prof. Asparuh Asparuhov, all of them doctors of medical sciences, will be the lecturers of the online course.
