Prof. Rahamin Shekerdzhiyski awarded by the Patent Office for 50th anniversary of ‘Benalgin’

The honorary badge of the Patent Office was handed to the eminent scientist and long-time lecturer at MU-Sofia, Prof. M.A. in Pharmacy Rahamin Shekerdzhiyski, Ph.D. The occasion is 50 years since the patenting of Benalgin – the first original Bulgarian combined analgesic. The awarding was a part of the scientific conference “50 Years of Life Without Pain”, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy of MU-Sofia to honor the anniversary.

Prof. Shekerdzhiyski received a special congratulatory address from the Rector of MU-Sofia, Prof. Boycho Landzhov, MD, PhD on the occasion as well as a special plaque from the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Corr. Member Prof. Georgi Momekov, DSc. 

The professional path of the respected researcher Prof. Shekerdzhiyski is closely connected with the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University-Sofia, where he was Dean in the period 1996-2000. He founded and for a long time headed the Department of Industrial Pharmacy. As the author of over 80 medicinal products and the holder of 23 patents, Prof. Shekerdzhiyski is listed in the Golden Book of Bulgarian Inventors and Discoverers, and his contribution to the development of Bulgarian scientific research and pharmaceutical activity is fundamental.

The conference “50 Years of Life Without Pain” was part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Faculty of Pharmacy at MU-Sofia. Scientists, lecturers, alumni of the faculty, representatives of institutions and professional organizations honored the event and discussed modern approaches in the treatment of pain and the role of innovations in healthcare.
