President Rumen Radev honors prominent Bulgarians with state honors. “The Order of Stara Planina” received three with different professions, but close in character knights of spirit, “said Radev. “Among the awardees is Prof. Dr. Chavdar Slavov – one of the leading names in the field of urology in Bulgaria and a specialist at the world level,” the President noted.
Prof. Dr. Chavdar Slavov was born in 1953 in Sofia. In 1979 he graduated in medicine from the Medical Academy in Sofia, and in 1984 he acquired a specialty in urology. Since 1988 he is a candidate of medical sciences, and in 1995 he became assistant professor of urology, leading the sector. Since 2007 he is a doctor of medical sciences and since 2008 he is a professor of urology. In 2010 he received a Master’s Degree in Health Management from UNWE. From 2009 to 2013 he was Head of the Urology Clinic at the University Hospital “Alexandrovska” EAD, Sofia. 2013 – 2014 is the Deputy. Minister in the Ministry of Health. He is currently Head of the Clinic of Urology and Andrology at the University Hospital “Queen Joanna – ISUL” – EAD Sofia. National urology consultant.
He was deputy. Dean of MF at MU Sofia and long-time member of the Faculty and Academic Councils at MU Sofia. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the WHO Regional Council. He was chairman of the Expert Council on Preventive Medicine; Chairman of the Expert Council on Rare Diseases, etc. In 2014 he was elected as Art. BAS correspondent.
He has specialized in Russia, France, England, USA, Germany, Belgium on the problems of reconstructive, transplantation and laser urology.
More than 10 diagnostic and over 15 surgical methods have been developed and put into practice. One of the first in the world to develop and put into practice urethroplasties with buccal and lingual mucosa. A longtime member of the kidney transplant teams.
Prof. Slavov’s scientific output includes over 415 scientific papers with an impact factor of more than 650, seven of the publications are in the prestigious Nature Genetics as a member of the pan-world PRACTICAL project. Leader and participant in 10 scientific projects of MES and MU Sofia. He has published 18 monographs and textbooks, some of which are in English. There are 13 rationalizations and inventions. It has been cited over 1600 times in some of the most prestigious magazines in the world with a total IF – over 8000.
Member of a number of international and our scientific organizations – AUA, EUA, SIU, BUD and others. He was editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian Transplantology magazine, Andrology magazine, Surgery magazine and more.
