The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) has announced the new annual world ranking.
Each rating system aims at two goals – to inform students and to create evidence for policy-making in education.
It shows that the tendency for a good ranking position of Medical University – Sofia worldwide is stable enough. The oldest Medical University in Bulgaria, again for the tenth year in a row, was nominated as a participant in the ranking of the best universities in the world based on the URAP database.
In 2019-2020, the latest data from URAP showed that MU-Sofia is ranked first among all universities in Bulgaria and 1174 in the world with 218.05 points from the analyzed 4000 universities, which represent an excerption of 10% of over 40,000 registered high schools from around the world.
With this result, our university strongly outperformed the other two ranked Bulgarian universities: Sofia University – in 1285th place (206.96 points), and at HTMU occupying 2223rd position (125.78 points).
Again this year, the first place out of a total of 2,500 higher education institutions goes to Harvard University, followed by the University of Toronto and University College London.
We should note that MU-Sofia retained its leading positions in 2019 and in Bulgaria, being the leading university of medical sciences in the rating system of the Ministry of Education and Science for a consecutive year. Since 2011, our university has consistently held the top spot in all five areas – Medicine, Dental medicine, Pharmacy, Public health and Healthcare.
