Ecology and sustainable development are among the most actual problems of the global society, which provoked MU-Sofia to take adequate measures to limit the harmful effects on the environment. The results are already a reality, and in March 2020 MU-Sofia was ranked in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2019.
The UI Green Metric World University Rankings has been an international initiative since 2010. It started as a project of Webometrics, HEEACT and Educational Policy of Canada to focus attention upon negative environmental impacts.
The management of MU-Sofia focuses its efforts on the sustainable development of the university, which was also evaluated internationally after the ranking. MU-Sofia successfully covers all 20 measuring indicators with positive results for the University.
MU-Sofia ranks 760th place and it is amongst the Universities of Oxford, Nottingham, Trent, Bologna, Berlin, University of Cork, Istanbul Technical University, Washington University St.Louis, California State University and a number of other well-known and prestigious institutions of higher education.
